Internatinal Day

purpose: to show the diverse cultures existant in school and to feel 'international'.
outcome: students group into nationalities where they speak to one another in their own languages and stick with one another for the first few hours of the day. each country also seems to want to show they're the best by chants (eh-hum australians) or by balloons, costume, props, dances etc etc etc.
But what i hate most about international day is that sad as it is i don't really fit in anywhere, especially not with the dutch, apparantly its strange to be dutch and not speak the language, or not have blond hair or not have blue eyes, and in my case not have all three. In fact, the only tme me and my sis gets recognised was when she got top in the world or when they're telling each other how she got into cambridge then they're all like "oh yess stand in the front, stand in the front"
But it was cute this year, Jasmijn came and held on to my hand for the entire morning and i have to say it was fun; and it was like i had my own little dutch prop...hehe lol. :)
i know its gay but what i totally love about international day is the song, one world, one voice, one song song. I just think its so beautiful when the whole school sings it, but whatever that's just me. i also LOVE the displays and THE FOOD!!!! heehee greeedy pig but i don't care.
it sux though that this year we don't get to miss classes, even though some of the dancing was gay, it was damn fun and i wish i could do it again for just one more year.
but i'm thinking, next year maybe i'll come in a white shirt and just go to whatever country i want, its all about internationalism right?

You can go seek advice on that internationalism from Mr. Burrell, I bet he could go on for hours about it.
